About Us

Our Team

Fred Meyer

I started working full-time in technology in 2012, through our web agency, Press Up. In 2013, I also took co-editorship of WPShout, a WordPress technical tutorial site. Prior to my work in technology, I completed a Master’s degree in social venturing and entrepreneurship.

In my spare time, I’m technology and strategy advisor to two digital Buddhist communities: the Ziji Collective, for young meditators in the Shambhala Tradition, and the North American Buddhist Alliance.

Our Values

Our work carries a few guiding principles. If they sound right to you, we might be a good fit.

Honesty.

Our motivations are simple: to offer our technical knowledge to help you enrich and improve the world, and to make a living for ourselves in the process.

We’re not looking to slickly amass outsized wealth, to exploit knowledge imbalances to our own benefit, or to reshape the world in our own image. Rather, we have a defined body of knowledge and skills, and we want to put them to good use for the benefit of the world.

If you’re similarly uncomplicated in your motivations and your manner of approaching new relationships, we’ll probably get along quite well.

United Around the Social Good.

If you’re trying to change the world for the better, we’re here to help you. The Happy Bracket is a livelihood for us, but more than that it’s our chance to help people and organizations that care about the common good using the tools at our disposal: technology expertise.

As part of this commitment, we will not turn away people who need our core product—our “Pathfinder” consulting package—because of price. We’ll even give it away if that’s what you can afford.

Who We Help

Which statement sounds most like you?

Prospecting

You’re about to launch a new initiative—or your venture itself—and you want to get the technology right from the get-go. Whether it’s your first foray onto the internet, or a complex new donor management system, we can help.

We can:

  1. Explain the tradeoffs of different technology platforms, with a focus on balancing your needs right now with the potential for growth.
  2. Identify the needed personnel and infrastructure, and project the overall time and financial cost, for each technical option you face.
  3. Ensure that every technology decision ties directly to your strategy and vision: the impact you want to see in the world itself.

Leveling Up

Your tech decisions have worked for you in the past, but you feel like they could be working better. From a thriving Etsy store that you wish were hosted on your website itself, to an entire web presence that feels static and divorced from your business model, we can help.

We can:

  1. Reestablish the priority of your own strategy in a tangle of confusing technology choices.
  2. Help you decide whether to move forward with existing technologies and contractors, and help you make the proper changes if necessary.
  3. Find alternatives to the too-expensive, too-painful “doomsday” scenarios that you may believe your organization faces.

Reorienting

You’re an established concern, but your current technology choices aren’t working out. Whether it’s a bottleneck or a full-blown crisis, we can help.

We can:
